Get Rid of Razor Bumps

It’s true that I don’t get razor bumps as often as a lot of people, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t done my research and figured out how to prevent razor bumps and how to get rid of razor bumps. It’s a topic quite similar to razor burn and ingrown hairs, except that there’s actually a latin name for this problem: pseudofolliculitis barbae. Yeah, that blew me away too. Well, the problem is a real concern to men, particularly black men, because their hair curls so closely that it ends up burying itself back into the skin. With the help of a dull razor and a poor shaving technique, this can happen too often resulting in a rash that may even become infected with Staph. So yeah, it is a real medication condition and it does need to be taken care of properly.

In this article I even turned to organic & natural, vegan certified shaving and skin care products to encourage guys to take care of their skin without the use of harsh chemicals. The harsh chemicals are there, of course, but I’d rather see people avoid the problem of razor bumps than subject themselves to a chemical hair remover. I mean, that stuff can’t be good for you.

It’s definitely not a cure for the razor bumps or razor burn, but being one of the “lucky” people that has an unusually tough beard and gets these wonderful bumps, I’ve discovered that using a hair conditioner (I prefer Pantene myself) on my beard occasionally, especially on my throat, will soften the beard better than any lotion or shaving cream ever will, which in turn will help you get a closer shave without re-shaving the same area repeatedly. I discovered this accidentally after I started shaving my head in the shower of a hotel and didn’t have any shaving cream available.

MEN!!!!!!! First of all, dont get ingrown hairs. Duh. When washing you face and neck EXFOLIATE! That means to use a soft brush to a fingernail brush if necessary. No crying allowed either. Now, shave against the hair growth, not with it. For those already deeply inbedded ‘razor rash hairs’ use a rusty–opps, I meant sterolized needle, safety pin or similar pointed thin object. NO, IT WON’T HURT, JUST TAKE A LONG TIME.

Go under a bump, just about a layer or two of skin, you’ll see the hair, lift the pin straight up. You’ll really freak when you pull one hair out and 4 or 5 bumps lay down and that one hair is down to your belly button!!!! And you guys like a fe to have a biniki shave—hmmm

Once you have all those bumps gone EXFOLIATE REGULARLY!!!! There is liquid and bar soap, brushes, sponges, luffa–many products. you just cant be a whimp about it. It looks scary, but you’ll be okay–Besides, all the ladies know what those bumps are. They are just to polite to say anything… :)

I’d really like to hear back from someone who took my advice!
