The cat is healthy according to the vet, I'm wondering if "Brat Cat" isn't the problem here. We've been taking away some of his 'fun' privileges and for some odd reason the behavior seems to be getting better and he's earning them back.

his litter box is cleaned out at least 3 times a day and a complete change at least once a week. We've kept everything the same, I'm beginning to think it's become some weird personal vendetta against the 2 legged creatures in the house. He is a hairless sphinx and is strictly a house cat, and his diet and everything else is kept constant due to demands of his skin care and sensitivities.

I would get that cat to a vet ASAP. Often times, cats will start to pee outside of their litter box when they are sick. Otherwise, have you been moving around a lot? Maybe in and out of the house a lot of the time? Is the litter box in an accessible place? Did you switch litter brands? Cats are also very sensitive to changes in their environment. You'll want to maintain a consistent environment as often as possible.

We acquired a 2 yr old male cat about 2 months ago and in the beginning things were going great he used his litter box as he should and did as he was supposed to. Recently it's as if he's lost it. He's taken to peeing, not spraying everywhere. The bathroom rugs, the clothes hamper, the kitchen rugs, and for some odd reason down the burners on the stove. We do have an appointment to get him fixed this week, but the smell is killing us. Any suggestions?

Siamese cats are probably the most high strung house cats, and cats do things to show thier anger or displeasure such as litter box avoidance. They will do this if the box is left uncleaned or in a busy area where they have no privacy. This may be a part of your problem.

I read the submission on this site about removing cat urine odor this morning in an effort to eliminate the funk from a portion of my living room rug. A few things came to mind after all previous efforts to de-funk the rug were fruitless. One, Nature's Miracle is a rip off and there's a reason the bottle I bought does not have a money back guarantee. Two, cat urine is the BANE of MY EXISTENCE. Three, thank GOD I got rid of the siamese because his suicidal tendency to chew live wires in conjunction with this other cat's piddle prospects would have definitely reduced my dwelling to a pile of post-electrical fire ashes by now.

One other unrelated thought came to mind as I read the treatment suggestion of Eric Ronning: the possibility of not fully soaking up the vinegar before the baking soda treatment, resulting in an apocalyptic 4th grade science class explosion of vinegar and baking soda emitting pee pee fumes. I just thought it was a funny image and thought I would share. You're welcome.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the floor is ceramic tile in the kitchen. I am taking him out for walks at night to make sure he goes before he comes home when its bedtime. But I dont think its gotten into the plywood being that its almost new and the grout is thick. However, the smell wont go away unless I use a deodorizer that comes in a small bottle that takes care of the smell. I was trying to look for another solution.
Thanks again.

Here's an opinion. If the floor is really tile you're in good shape since it won't get into the sub floor, that's where it becomes a problem (that's the plywood under the tile). Be sure to train the dog and be consistant about it. Animals like children need consistancy to feel secure. So be sure to either walk the dog or let him out at the same time every day.

Body odour is something no one wants to talk about. Like everything else if you find the cause then you’ve found the cure. Imagine if you could use a herbal product when used once a week will eliminate odours. It is not a pill but a cream. You just dab a bit and no more odour. And you only need to use it once a week.

What causes body odour?

When you sweat combination of sweat and bacteria causes body odour.

So how does the cream work?

Instead of blocking the sweat, it kills the bacteria. Without the presence of bacteria, body odour is gone.

Is it safe? Anti-perspirants vs. Lavilin

Anti-perspirants, contain aluminum and clog our pores and stops perspiration. Aluminum is a poison, linked to Alzheimer. New research suggests a link between antiperspirants and breast cancer.

Lavilin is not an anti-perspirant, but a Hypo-allergenic with a unique herbal underarm deodorant cream, alcohol-and aluminum-free.

    * For Men and Women
* Hypo-allergenic
* Odour Free Up to 7 Days
* Not Tested on Animal

Who sells it?

This cream is called Lavilin, and distributed by iherb.com. The link below will take you directly to Lavilin. You can read further reviews on this product. If you decide to order use the referral code ICE305 you’ll get a $5.00 discount.

http://www.iherb.com/Search.aspx?c=1&st=l&kw=LAVILIN

1. beer
2. There's this thing called a hose. If you screw it into the the thing on the side of your house that looks like a faucet it makes water come out!
3. beer
4. Spray the water .

I put a dog run in my yard (a cement pad with gravel on top). The reason for the cement pad was so my dog didn't dig under the gravel and make a muddy mess (or tunnel his way out)! It's worked great so far, but now (as this is where he does his business), it's starting to smell something fierce. We can't open the windows on that side of the house because of the smell, and with the summer here, that makes it extra hot inside! How can I get rid of this smell??? HELP!!!!!!!!

In those expensive cat pee removers, the word 'enzyme' appears often. I noticed it also appears in the laundry additive called 'Biz', so I tried it in a very stinky laundry load of pee contaminated towels. It worked perfectly. I tried it in a soak ( 1 gallon water, 1 tablespoon Biz) and it also worked great. That solution is good to pour onto furniture, carpets, mattresses too. It can be worked in, allowed to dry, and you're good to go. It would also be a good way to clean dog pee.

So we're dealing with dog and human urine? Luckily for you, Maggie is on the ball. Pets and Kids is a great product. It's called an enzymatic cleaner, enzymes specifically designed to break up and dissolve the proteins and organic matter found in animal waste. I would suggest using much of that to do your carpets. In the mean time, you can also find pet stain and odor cleaners to do the dirty work on the stains and spots you find. Hint: most pet stain/odor cleaners that are "organic" or "natural" are also enzymatic cleaners. Seventh Generation and Ecover both have really good solutions available in most grocery/big box stores.

Good luck and let us know how things turn out, ndnpony.

Isopropyl Alcohol poured onto carpet will remove alot of stains and odors. You do have to pour alot, then dab--don't rub or use pressure. You may have to reapply later, but alcohol evaporates and (hopefully) takes away all of the odor and stain. There is also a product out called Pets and Kids which can be added to your steam cleaner. This worked great when my neighboors sled team accidentally got into my home and had a spot marking contest.

First check for urine in molding, wood sink base or other absorbing material before you do anything drastic. Hopefully this will be your problem.

You may have urine under the tub, sink, toilet, or other hard to reach areas. You didn't say what kind of flooring is in the bathroom. If it is tile, wood, vinyl, and carpet, it may all have to come out and have a new subfloor put in or use a sealer such as Kiltz on the floor. Then put in a single piece of flooring (not tile, ect) and caulk around all the fixtures as they are replaced.

Good luck and Bless you for taking care of your mother.

Cassie is right. Urine will flourese under a black light. Professional FDA inspector's use them in food processing plants. Be sure it's a hand held one and that other lights are off. Also If it is under the carpet (in the subfloor) it may not show up. I think I would be on the phone with the landlord every day until this is resolved. They should move you to another unit at no charge.

I would really suggest getting a black light - you can hire them from party hire places. this will show you where stains are - especially urine.
Cat urine will keep coming back, so theres a good chance it was already there. they probably cleaned the carpets when the old tenants left, that'll hide the smell for a while, but it comes back.
I've tried sooooo many different products to get rid of cat pee and the best I've found is here http://www.caturineoff.com (it's NOT an affiliate link or anything like that!).
It's a really good recipe and keeps it really cheap too as you dont have to keep buying professional stuff.

Coney,

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I have been out of state and without computer for the last week. I'm sorry to hear about Meow and I hope you haven't done anything drastic yet. I think I can give you a couple pieces of advice to try. But before that, I think I need to know a bit more. First, are you sure the cat pee smell is coming from Meow? I once moved into a place that didn't start to smell like cat pee until summer hit. With summer came humidity and that really brought the smell out of the carpet. Second, has Meow ever done anything like this before? Do you have more than one pet? Do you live in a house or an apartment? My last apartment was at garden level and strange animals had a habit of lifting their legs on or spraying my window. It made the whole place smell. Finally, what have you done so far to try to remedy the situation?

Thank you for contacting me, hopefully when I hear back from you we can get some things figured out and Meow can keep on keepin' on.

Female cats don't mark territory like males do. Have you shown her where her new litter box is? Cats don't like new places. Give her some time to get used to the place. Are you sure it's not males outside? Is she fixed? Don't get rid of your friend because she's scared and confused!
