The most important thing to do suffering from Acne is to drink at least four pints of water every day. Drinking a lot of water is very beneficial to the skin. Including fresh fruit and leafy green vegetables in the daily diet will also bring about a marked improvement in the quality of the complexion. Moreover, I usually wash my face atleast 3 times a day with a mild face wash. I've tried a lot of products from the market but they are not so effective. Then from one of my colleague I got the name of Himani Boroplus Anti-Acne cream and I started using it for about 3 months. This is an herbal product and is working quite well on my skin. Hope to get rid of acne soon.

Hello,

This is what my dermatologist recommended:

- Preferably, don't use soap/cleanser at all in washing the skin. Only use water. (I know, sounds counter-intuitive.) If you can't stand not to use something to cleanse, then only use BAR soaps. He recommended Purpose bar soap but said that most any type of bar soap will do. He emphasized that the fact that a soap is in bar form means it doesn't have the acne causing ingredients of liquid cleansers.

- He said to not use moisturizers at all. He indicated that they are a pure marketing ploy. He said that if you get a really dry spot, you can use Vaseline on it.

- He said to only use sunscreen when I will be in direct, extended sunlight exposure. (I'm very fair-skinned.) And, then he recommended Neutrogena spray sunscreen - the kind that protects from UVA and UVB. But, he said to wash it off as soon as I'm out of the sun.

- He prescribed Tretenoin Gel, .01% to be used 1x/day @ night and suggested buying it from Canada if my insurance wouldn't cover it hear. (I'm 40, and he said that they may think I only want it for wrinkles. It turned out that they didn't get me any issues about covering it.)

- He also prescribed Erythromycin Topical Solution USP 2% to be used 2x/day on "spots."

- He prescribed oral Minocycline (100mg) to be taken 1x/day during "flare ups."

I know that's not 100% a "home remedy," but I hope it helps. I found the soap vs. cleanser info interesting and helpful. Good luck!

I also have body acne--mostly on my thighs. I do several things in conjunction with each other that seem to do a good job.

The first thing is to use a body wash with Salycilic Acid. This is important because it is an exfoliator. You need to keep the affected areas clear of dead skin cells, etc. Do this on a daily basis. But do not use a washcloth to apply it, use your own hands--washcloths, sponges, etc. are too rough and will cause irritation to your skin. Such irritation only agravates your acne problems. You want to soothe your skin, and calm down the production of oils, etc. Along this same line, be sure that your body wash is FRAGRANCE FREE. Perfume is just another irritant on your skin.

Secondly, after your shower, apply anti-biotic creme (not ointment) to the affected areas. You can find this in the first aid section of the drug store. Don't use ointment, because that will seep onto all your clothing, etc. Apply the creme generously, and massage it until it absorbs into your skin.

You can follow up the creme with a light, oil free, fragrance free moisturizer.

Then every week or two, take an hour and apply one of those peel off masks (again--it must be fragrance free, and should contain salycilic acid) to all the affected areas. . . follwed up with the anti-biotic creme and moisturizer.

It is really important in all of this to remember not to scrub your skin. I am 47, and I made that mistake for many years because I was so frustrated with my acne, and now I have all of these small "skin tags" on my face and neck because of it. Scrubbing is bad. That should be like a mantra you say to yourself, OK? Be patient. Moisturizing is good. Scrubbing is bad.

Apple cider vinegar (the good kind found in health food sections; I use "Bragg's" brand) has helped my skin a great deal. I use it as a toner (mix with water, 50-50, to keep in a bottle) every night, rinsing off after a couple minutes. If I have a break out, I apply the water-ACV mixture and leave it on overnight. Do it every night until it goes away - which usually only takes a couple nights or so.

Our family seldom had skin problems. Reared on a farm, we ate our own vegetables, fruit, eggs, milk, beef, pork and chicken. Desserts were prepared for Sunday, birthdays, anniversaries, and guests, including evenings when classmates spent the night. Otherwise, dessert consisted of canned fruit. Wholesome food certainly helped us to have clear skin, but, in addition, we used medicated powder on our faces after cleasing and before going to bed. In addition, whenever we'd feel the beginning tenderness of what would become a zit, as we smoothed our fingertips over our skin in washing, we'd apply a triple antibiotic ointment over the area, and never press, nor squeeze. The key is not to touch, except for cleasing and applying powder and antibiotic ointment. We'd reapply the TAO morning and night. Makeup could be carefully applied over it. Now, antibiotic cream is available, and much less messy. Wash your face, apply moisturizer if you use it, pat the medicated powder all over, and get used to the peculiar odor! Since I don't think I can say a brand name, I'll say that the name reminds you of Mexico and Texarkana. Sorry, if such a clue is not allowed! It could be that any medicated powder will work, but I know that that one worked wonders for my friends and for me, along with the antibiotic ointment/cream.

After battling cystic acne as a teen for five years, I moved to another part of the country, and my acne disappeared in four weeks. An allergist suggested that the water in my hometown was very high in dissolved chalk, and that it was a contributing factor in clogged pores. I had wasted thousands of dollars with the dermatologists when the solution seemed simple. Even now, when I go home to visit, I start breaking out like mad again, and I'm fifty. Take time to see an allergist as well as your dermatologist.

I have heard of drinking castor oil to help bring on labor or loosening your, uhhh, well I think you know what I am getting at, but not for removing warts. Is this something that you have used yourself for wart removal or do you just use it as a facial cream? What kind of warts do you get on the face? I know you get planter warts on your hands and feet and genital warts are now known to appear many places other than just in the original area, but is there a certain type that grow on the face other than a plain old wart? Would this also work for moles and acne or just for the warts?

For those who have facial warts, and have tried, medications, creams, prescription drugs, there's a safe easy way to get rid of facial warts, without costing a fortune.

the miracle oil is CASTOR OIL. You can buy it at any drugstore, or health food store. It is inexpensive, and you'll see results in one month.

Every day, before going to bed, just put some castor oil on your face. you can apply some of your favourite face cream so that it won't be as oily. Just do this every day, for 30 days, you should see results in 30 days.

Castor oil is cheap, and you can get it at your local drugstore. A small 8oz bottle, will last you at least 6 months. You'll notice a smoother and healthy looking face in a very short time.

I have tried everything for acne, including dermatologists, medications, face scrubs, etc. Finally, a couple of years ago, I realized that drinking two cups of premium black tea (darjeeling or some earl grey blends with out milk) a day cleared my skin up, minimized my pores and made it look very clear and fresh. Nothing else has worked better.

What I have found that worsens my acne has been refined sugar, coffee, corn syrup, anything fried or with a lot of oil in it and most breads and pastas.
