I may have an established nest outside perhaps in an oak tree and a satellite nest in the wall of the house(can they travel via roots as I've yet to see any actually coming or going. I've had fras under two basement windows and along a five foot section of basement wall). I've occasionally seen large winged ants outside in the summer.

How can I find a nest in a tree?

I recently used your recipe for removing stubborn cat urine odors and I just have to say holy hannah it worked! I used several different OTC sprays that calimed to do the trick and even borrowed an steam cleaner but nothing worked until I found your suggestion on the good old internet!

As a landlord of 35 yrs I've had LOTS of odors to deal with, and every one has been successfully treated very easily. I've used 3 different ones: Scent-Killer, Scent-Shield, and Scent-Away.(My guess is they're all identical--they all work) BTW, be sure to get the unscented variety unless you like "fresh earth" smell or whatever might have been added to attract game animals. It can be found at Wal-Mart before deer hunting season which starts soon--might be on shelves now. Can get it at hunting and archery shops, too. It was about $100 per gallon when first on market, but now can be had for around $12 per quart, which will last a normal family about a lifetime!

Its mechanism is stated as "prevents formation of gas". No gas, no odor. I have found this stuff is the ANSWER to EVERY odor problem I've had the past 15 yrs or so. Surface odors are zero problem. Cat urine soaked thru carpet, padding and into wood below requires you to soak each area w/ the liquid---it looks just like water. The stuff works instantly, but may have to be repeated if stink is in wood or other hard-to=treat areas. Obviously, if all 3 are soaked it will take more treatment, but it will work. No need to "seal" floors any more before carpeting, or at least I haven't had to. If urine is widespread in carpet, padding and floor you will probably want to change them anyway, but you can "mop" the floor w/ odor-killer to prevent having to seal it if it's a nice wood.

Horror story: My worst case of "superficial" odor was a fridge that was PACKED, both freezer and fridge, and left w/out elec for weeks! Incredible, rotting mess.
A half-dozen mist-sprays into each box and smells were gone. Days later, still no smells on the food removed, and none in the fridge, and didn't have to re-spray the fridge later. I still find this hard to believe myself, but it's true.

It's great for litter boxes, trash cans, garbage disposals, etc. I haven't yet found an odor it won't eliminate... landlords don't have a choice! We HAVE to get rid of stinks. ....and we do.

Our scottie got skunked last night. She was sprayed in the face and came out of the woods rolling in the grass to try to wipe off the smell. I took her to the bathtub and grabbed the leftover tomato juice from the frige. Though she didn't like it, I doused her with the cold liquid over the front half of her body, waited a couple of minutes, then washed her with dog shampoo. This morning she is fine, no oder, but some stiff hair.

The runner at the front door will need to be cleaned, as she wiped herself on it when she came in and it smells up the whole house. I will try some of the suggestions here and see if they work, but that can be replaced if need be.

I really hope someone can help me. I am so upset about this. I am exsperiencing really bad embarressing cat orders coming from somewhere on my moterized wheelchair. It is not coming from anywhere on my couchings. (I have two) One that I sit on and one that I rest my back on. The smell seems to be coming from under my seat where all of the wires are on the left side of my chair. My wheelchair reclins so I have reclined it as far back as I can get it and then, I have sprayed it with white vineger and water and also a spray that I brought from a pet store called Complete for cats (stain and oder remover). I feel crazy spraying this stuff on my chair because I have never been around any cats. I really worry about spraying all of this stuff on my chair because where the smell seems to come from has lots of wires and socket. Now heres the best part I Hate cats and would never go anywhere around a cat. If I need to go into a store that has a cat in it I will not go into that store. In December I had to have my chair repared. I know there was new parts put onto my chair and I was thinking that one of these new part might smell like cat pee in humid weather. This is the only time I was not around my chair. I did not start smelling this odor until late May. Now that the weather is really humid (June, July and August) this smell is really bad. Please help me because I don't want to blow out my power chair spraying all of this stuff that really don't work on my chair.

We have a rental home that has recently been vacated. Our tenant had cats. The cats are gone-but their presence is still smelled! We have installed new carpet in the rooms that were worse and had the other carpets professionally cleaned. The odor is horrible and we may have trouble leasing it again. What would you suggest we do do get rid of this odor? She left the crawl space opening open for cats to have a place to come in out of the cold. Could odors seep up into the house? Needless to say we will NEVER AGAIN RENT TO ANYONE THAT HAS ANY KIND OF PET! It just is too expensive to clean up after them.

I get terribly ill from smelling my own clothes. I never had allergies before, but starting last fall, after I was exposed to some nasty odors from some brand-new particle board shelving I had installed in my bedroom closet, I started noticing that my clothing stunk very badly. (The shelves are now long gone.) Generally speaking, other people didn't notice the smell, but the odor was so bad (and still is) that after wearing my clothes for just a short time, I become extremely nauseous. Often I have to run outside and breathe in fresh air just to make it through the day. I started buying new clothes, but after one wash they seem to inherit the odor from my washing machine. I tried cleaning the washing machine with bleach and other products available from Lowe's and Home Depot, to no avail. Then I thought I might need a new washer, since mine is an older-model top-loader with just a cold wash. Problem is, I'm not in a position to spend $1000-plus on a new high-tech washing machine, especially when it might not even help. I've tried all kinds of laundry detergents, including so-called "green" products, as well as additivies like vinegar, borax, washing soda and baking soda. Nothing has removed the stink from my clothes. I've tried air-drying my clothes instead of using the dryer, again to no avail. Recently I saw a doctor who thinks I may have a problem with my sense of smell. He recommends I get a sinus CAT-scan and an MRI. But I have to believe that, at minimum, a partial remedy might be found in the way I do my laundry. Can anyone recommend a specialized laundry detergent that fights allergens? I'm not talking about the usual allergens like pet dander and dust mites. This one is more likely chemically-based since the problem started with my exposure to the shelving, which -- by the way -- contained formaldehyde and other VOC's (volatile organic compounds). Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Body odour is something no one wants to talk about. Like everything else if you find the cause then you’ve found the cure. Imagine if you could use a herbal product when used once a week will eliminate odours. It is not a pill but a cream. You just dab a bit and no more odour. And you only need to use it once a week.

What causes body odour?

When you sweat combination of sweat and bacteria causes body odour.

So how does the cream work?

Instead of blocking the sweat, it kills the bacteria. Without the presence of bacteria, body odour is gone.

Is it safe? Anti-perspirants vs. Lavilin

Anti-perspirants, contain aluminum and clog our pores and stops perspiration. Aluminum is a poison, linked to Alzheimer. New research suggests a link between antiperspirants and breast cancer.

Lavilin is not an anti-perspirant, but a Hypo-allergenic with a unique herbal underarm deodorant cream, alcohol-and aluminum-free.

    * For Men and Women
* Hypo-allergenic
* Odour Free Up to 7 Days
* Not Tested on Animal

Who sells it?

This cream is called Lavilin, and distributed by iherb.com. The link below will take you directly to Lavilin. You can read further reviews on this product. If you decide to order use the referral code ICE305 you’ll get a $5.00 discount.

http://www.iherb.com/Search.aspx?c=1&st=l&kw=LAVILIN

So many WONDERFUL MEMORIES of the uses for Amonia came back to me from the smoking phone forum. Can't find the bullets or auto numbers!
CAUTION:
AMONIA IS CLEAR, PUT OUT OF REACH OF SMALL KIDS
AND WARN EVERONE YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET VERY ILL
ABOUT YOUR USING AMONIA AND WHERE YOU ARE USING IT!
PLEASE!
-place a bowl of amonia in you dirty oven, with the door closed, all night. In the morning all the yuck will wipe off easily--kinda

-placed in an open bowl will keep mosquitoes out of the room--not the State bird kind, but the few that sneak into the house

-a small amount (very small) in the water used for fresh flowers help them last longer

-place in a bowl and leave in a smelly room or closet (you know, your sons room, ect) and it will freshen the air--don't keep it as a continual air freshener, not so good smelling right from the bowl

-added to laundry (NO BLEACH)
it will remove cloth diaper odors (remember those, place in potty, hold tight, flush)
remove smoking oders from clothes
remove beer sweat smell from, well clothes, for now
acts as a booster--MULE TEAM IS A BETTER BOOSTER THO

-use mixed with water only, to wash windows, mirrors, other glass items; hint for streakless, lint free, perfectly clear windows--use coffee filters as your cleaning rag

-did I already mention jewelry? Well if a repeat its cuz I'm tired an to lazy to scroll up. Becareful and sensible when cleaning your jewelry. Amonia is great for gold, but can eat through gold plate (and many other names used for gold over another metal). the stones can be glass, gems, but stay away from porous stuff like pearls, opals, and please, no paste stones--get them insured as antiques

-spot clean carpet from animal accidents----Isopropyl and "Kids and Pets" too (alcohol evaperates instead of forcing pee-pee down into the carpet, I think there is alcohol in 'Kids and Pets')
DISCLAIMER:
I am not a distributor, sales person,
or affiliated with the product 'Kids and Pets";
Actually, I own the company. LOL LOL not really,
just spill alot of stuff and it works easily for me

-removes black stuff from patio furniture--delute with water or it will take the shine off the plastic

-add to shampoo when cleaning your carpet to help boost the cleaning power and deoderize the carpet

-use full strength on no wax floors, remember to rinse with water OR throw a towel on the floor and using your feet, dry it--no streaks AND freshens the room

THIS IS THE BIG SUPRIZE, HELD FOR LAST AND NO COMMENTS UNTIL YOU TRY IT FIRST-OKAY?

-take a clean, soft wash cloth and put it in the palm of your cupped hand. Pour enough amonia to completely wet the wash cloth. Drum Roll Please:
use the wash cloth to cleanse you face--not a joke, be careful not to get into your eyes, but it feels incredibly refreshing and clean. No need to rinse. Different from temporary cleanser below. This is okay to use regularly unless your find your skin is sensitive to amonia

-use to wash arms and "under" them to remove the beer sweat smell--this is ONLY FOR EMERGENCIES if you live in a dry house and forgot to order your water delivery or forget to fill your water jugs on the way home from work

-a great way to take a bird bath when your camping, as a way to keep from attracking bears and other critters

                   using amonia and let them know it is not to drink

This should give you a basis for the other inexpensive ways to clean, using Amonia.

PLEASE TEST FIRST

DO NOT use on white aluminum siding unless you want a streaky yellow house-- ya, I did it, but then when I had to I paint the whole house, it looked wonderful, and even though I didn't think it was remotely possible, my legs became even more shapely when I finished; from going up and down the ladder, as well as all the shaking they did while I was on the ladder painting the second floor on up...

I live in a large older apartment complex and noticed after a month of living here that there is a weird, irritating smell in my house. I don't smoke but can smell stale smoke. I believe that the apartments that I am attached to all share the same ventillation system. I have spent a lot of money on plug ins(even the febreeze),carpet freshers, vent clips and still that smell prevails. what can I do!!

In those expensive cat pee removers, the word 'enzyme' appears often. I noticed it also appears in the laundry additive called 'Biz', so I tried it in a very stinky laundry load of pee contaminated towels. It worked perfectly. I tried it in a soak ( 1 gallon water, 1 tablespoon Biz) and it also worked great. That solution is good to pour onto furniture, carpets, mattresses too. It can be worked in, allowed to dry, and you're good to go. It would also be a good way to clean dog pee.

We acquired a 2 yr old male cat about 2 months ago and in the beginning things were going great he used his litter box as he should and did as he was supposed to. Recently it's as if he's lost it. He's taken to peeing, not spraying everywhere. The bathroom rugs, the clothes hamper, the kitchen rugs, and for some odd reason down the burners on the stove. We do have an appointment to get him fixed this week, but the smell is killing us. Any suggestions?

I read the submission on this site about removing cat urine odor this morning in an effort to eliminate the funk from a portion of my living room rug. A few things came to mind after all previous efforts to de-funk the rug were fruitless. One, Nature's Miracle is a rip off and there's a reason the bottle I bought does not have a money back guarantee. Two, cat urine is the BANE of MY EXISTENCE. Three, thank GOD I got rid of the siamese because his suicidal tendency to chew live wires in conjunction with this other cat's piddle prospects would have definitely reduced my dwelling to a pile of post-electrical fire ashes by now.

One other unrelated thought came to mind as I read the treatment suggestion of Eric Ronning: the possibility of not fully soaking up the vinegar before the baking soda treatment, resulting in an apocalyptic 4th grade science class explosion of vinegar and baking soda emitting pee pee fumes. I just thought it was a funny image and thought I would share. You're welcome.

My puppy has peed on the kitchen tile during house training. Is there anything cheap I can use that will get rid of the smell? I know not to use any ammonia on the floor too as this will make him go more--he is almost fully trained now.

I put a dog run in my yard (a cement pad with gravel on top). The reason for the cement pad was so my dog didn't dig under the gravel and make a muddy mess (or tunnel his way out)! It's worked great so far, but now (as this is where he does his business), it's starting to smell something fierce. We can't open the windows on that side of the house because of the smell, and with the summer here, that makes it extra hot inside! How can I get rid of this smell??? HELP!!!!!!!!
