I have read at http://www.birddeterrets.org that the major help for bird controls are bird deterrents. They could help in bird controls and they are different types
specifically to what kind of bird problem you have.

Feels like more info is needed here. First off, are you sure these are earwigs--the bugs found on ears of corn (hence the name)? What sort of climate do you live in? Is your house particularly grimey? Because keeping things totaly clean and disinfected is the #1 way to keep earwigs uninterested in the types of spaces that you are describing. They are looking for food and water. Make sure that they can't find any. Any where. Make sure there are no food splatters inside your oven--turn it on and bake the critters out. Clean your oven and stove--and keep them clean. Clean up thoroughly after everytime you cook. When you put your dishes in the dishwasher, make sure there is no food on them.

Also, keeping the inside of your house dry is important. Maybe you need to get a de-humidifier? If so, it needs to be emptied out everyday, and also kept clean. Everything needs to be clean. Clean, dry, no food droppings, no bringing in dirt from the outdoors, etc. This is the bare minimum of all pest control.

On top of this, you may want to try sprinkling Borax in some of the out of the way places that they go--behind the fridge, behind the stove, etc. Also, many garden supply places carry earwig specific pesticide. But if you have pets or children you may not want to use this indoors.

I have had great success using 20 Mule Team Borax as a pesticide. I sprinkle it lightly all over my carpeted rooms and grind into the carpet by walking around on it. I then vaccuum it up. The boric acid contained in Borax kills bugs and keeps them from coming back. It also works great as a carpet deodorizer and is safe for your family.

A major problem with birds is around airports as you well know this year we've had a few bird strikes making news headlines. Each bird control situation is unique to itself and from what I've seen a few professionals treat them all the same.Even with bird cotrol in place they are unpredicable. What do you think?

I just wanted to weigh in on this aggravating problem! I finally found the source of my carpet beetle infestation coming in through an unsealed bathroom window. The window is being replaced so I won't have the adults coming in anymore. Yay! For the rest of the items that had the larvae and eggs in I either washed, froze(for 2 weeks) or threw out everything else. I am a very chemically sensitive person so spraying a bunch of chemicals around the house wasn't really an option. After doing a bunch of research I picked up a product called Orange Guard. I sprayed it in a container with a larvae and it died instantly! So far it is working out very well. It smells like citrus so I actually enjoyed using it. I treat the closets and baseboards periodically. In my shoe boxes and drawers I leave some cotton balls that are sprayed with the Orange Guard. After losing alot of my cashmere and wool sweaters I sealed them in large ziploc bags from Walmart. Those things are great! Its safe and effective. I have off white carpet and it didn't stain it either. I hope this helps you guys out.

Carpet beetles could also be coming from stuffed animals(the real shot and stuffed kind) I have also seen them in older construction i.e. the old horse hair walls and even some older homes used just about anything for insulation, so the source could be in the walls, attic, basement etc. You need a flashlight and some time.

During construction? New house? Addition? Check for old bird nests, mice nests ( maybe in walls) these could be the breeding areas. Also look out for "plaster beetles" in new construction.

I've discovered I still have carpet beetles. Hadn't seen them for some time but after not cleaning for a while during construction, I have found them throughout the house.

Actually what I see is the larvae. I did find one dead shell of a variegated type and think I saw two of the odd-shaped black ones crawling up the wall some time ago, but I basically NEVER see any beetles! Don't the beetles do the egg-laying? Shouldn't they be flying around my house or something?

I was over at my mom's cleaning and see that she has the larvae skins too. Maybe that's where they originally came from. I always thought they came with the new carpet when I moved into this place. That's the first time I had ever seen any at all. I told the exterminator when I first moved in years ago and he just said hm I don't know what that is.

Do they often die before reaching adult hood? I see some that look roundish like a beetle may have hatched but often they are just skinny empty or deal looking things.

Why do I not see beetles? I'm confused.

I hate to think they're in the walls. What could I do about that? Fumigation is not a consideration.

Thank you.
