Try putting some ant bait stations OUTSIDE even better if you can find the ant trails OUTSIDE put the stations there . This will cause the ants to remain OUTSIDE where they belong.

Even though the amount of boric acid found in Terro ant baits is small enough not to worry about poisoning yourself, I'm not sure I would trust it around very small kittens. Perhaps you could put the traps somewhere on the floor where the ants can get to them but the kittens cannot? That may distract your ants from the real food and keep your kittens safe from secondary poisoning.

i have two little kittens and i'm not home alot. i'd like to leave some food in the bathroom where they are confined so they can eat whenever, but alas, ants quickly come in. do i use boric acid safely OR shall i simply resign myself to never being able to leave food out for them?
