I have heard that Witch Hazel is an excellent herbal tincture to use for such purposes. Thank you, George.

I found your info on how to get rid of a bruise very helpful but I did want to add that applying Witch Hazel to the bruise for about 30 minutes right after it happens can be extremely helpful in preventing a bruise. I tend to bruise easily and after a rather hard fall on my knee I applied a Witch Hazel soaked gauze pad to it and elevated my leg for about 30-45 minutes then just repeated this treatment intermittently throughout the rest of the day. I had virtually no bruise. I don't know exactly how it works... I know it contains alcohol and of course feels cool to the skin, but it really works.
