   I am having a problem with Big Black Ants in my kitchen. I have been very diligent in keeping food and such off the counters. I have even been good about washing dishes immediatly after using them so they don't sit in the sink and collect ants. They aren't Carpenter Ants, but are just a tad smaller. I am killing between 10 and 30 a day. I also have to be very careful as to what types of pesticides I use as I have a daughter that has bad asthma and I also have pet birds. And anyone that knows anything about cockotiels knows that if you sneeze on them, they die. If you cook on teflan, they die. If you use a clothes iron with teflan, they die. So you see, I have to be very careful not to use any type of spray pesticides. Any help would be appreciated!!!

   I would go with Terro liquid ant baits for a quick fix. So long as you don't pour it on the bird, or force feed it to your daughter, everything should be okay. But. Big but. I would check with your pet store person first, just to make sure I'm not giving you really stupid advice. Honestly, I hate birds. So, I don't trust myself to give you advice on this matter. I do, however, like children and Terro should be perfectly safe around her. Just keep them out of her reach, you know?

   Mix equal amounts of icing sugar and Baking Soda. Put it wherever you think the ants are coming in and around and anywhere else around the house they might be. It is obviously safe for children and pets. It really works. I had little red ants in my kitchen i could not get rid off using this they were gone in a few days.

   My dad had the big black ants in his house and he tried everything and this got rid of them.

   I also had a lot of the small ants on my front walkway i sprinkle this on the walkway and they were gone in days.

   Good luck it really works.
