Female cats don't mark territory like males do. Have you shown her where her new litter box is? Cats don't like new places. Give her some time to get used to the place. Are you sure it's not males outside? Is she fixed? Don't get rid of your friend because she's scared and confused!

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I have been out of state and without computer for the last week. I'm sorry to hear about Meow and I hope you haven't done anything drastic yet. I think I can give you a couple pieces of advice to try. But before that, I think I need to know a bit more. First, are you sure the cat pee smell is coming from Meow? I once moved into a place that didn't start to smell like cat pee until summer hit. With summer came humidity and that really brought the smell out of the carpet. Second, has Meow ever done anything like this before? Do you have more than one pet? Do you live in a house or an apartment? My last apartment was at garden level and strange animals had a habit of lifting their legs on or spraying my window. It made the whole place smell. Finally, what have you done so far to try to remedy the situation?

I would really suggest getting a black light - you can hire them from party hire places. this will show you where stains are - especially urine.
Cat urine will keep coming back, so theres a good chance it was already there. they probably cleaned the carpets when the old tenants left, that'll hide the smell for a while, but it comes back.

Cassie is right. Urine will flourese under a black light. Professional FDA inspector's use them in food processing plants. Be sure it's a hand held one and that other lights are off. Also If it is under the carpet (in the subfloor) it may not show up. I think I would be on the phone with the landlord every day until this is resolved. They should move you to another unit at no charge.
