andyc77,
relax. there's no need to tear up the carpeting. there's no question that dog urine odor is difficult to get rid of, but it's do-able.
if the dogs have wee'd all over the carpeting and not just in one spot, then i would definitely get your carpet cleaner again. this time, however, make sure you use the proper shampoo. don't go for the rug doctor brand, bissell or any of the other everyday carpet shampoos. find something that is designed for taking care of dog urine odor. there are many cleaners (simple solution is my weapon of choice) out there that can be added to your shampooer that will work with your chosen shampoo and that are made with enzymes that break down the odor and promote bacteria growth for lasting treatment (the bacteria helps to further break down stains and odors, it's a good thing.) i would look for shampoos like Ecosafe Products Carpet Cleaner, Enviro-Rite Carpet Cleaner, and Earth Friendly Products Carpet Shampoo.
also, take your time and do it right. follow the instructions on the shampooer and only go as fast as the machine says to. make sure to move everything out of the room your cleaning too. furniture has a habit of blocking your cleaning efforts. sometimes the carpeting and the carpet pad absorbs the urine and pulls it under furniture.

thanks for the reply. I have been told to use a mix of corn flour and bicard of soda with a fragrence and leave it over night. I did this, but as my luck has it, the hoover broke half way through cleaning up, but it does seem to have done the trick. Anyway, thanks for the advice and i will be purchasing some carpet shampoo in the near future. I never knew they made some purposely for dog urine, its nice to know im not suffering alone. Thanks again
