I'll tell ya, I am so undecided (confused, flabbergasted, scared, uncertain) but, I also do not know if I want Palin to go or stay. I can't believe that I am saying this, but she might make a better President than any of them. (does anyone really know when to use 'than' vs 'then'?) If there is a chance that she goes, who is gonna take care of the people way up here? The 'Good Ole Boys' again?
I thought she would be a fashion model puppet as Governor, but she has done sooo much for the individual people, then moved right in to cleaning out as much of the corruption as she was allowed to without emptying the complete Alaskan Government--oops, gotta hide, I think I hear the storm troopers coming! I mean State Troopers they really are not nice people. Scary!

This is only my opinion but since I'm always right Listen up...They're all the same.
Once they get the job..that's it. The position and power and money devour them. That's why we do this every 4 years so we don't end up with a King or Queen.But you're right ..she would be best for the job..Hopefully no one will read this under the heading of " getting rid of lawn moles".

Usually, I try to stay out of politics when it comes to this website, but since we're on the subject of Palin...
First of all, are you kidding me? Are you being serious? Just because everyone (now inspired by Palin's nomination) can be the president doesn't mean they should be the president. All you need to do to understand my position on this matter is to look up Plato's "philosopher king." I don't want the idiot next door to be the next president. Why? Because he/she is an idiot. That's why. Palin is so incredibly unprepared for this job that I've considered leaving the country if she's elected. I would be less concerned with out political future if they started farming political talent from the WWF. Mind you, I live in Minnesota, so I know what that's like, actually.
Secondly, Obama is our man. Yes, he will have his scandals and investigations. They all do. Like Getagrip said, power corrupts. It's a very simple formula--time tested and almost as certain as 2 + 2 = 4.
Now, the question is: who do you think is being more optimistic? I think the answer is obvious. What we need right now is optimism. We don't need is more divisive politics. That's what McCain represents to me. I've noticed something in the past few weeks: Obama is always responding to attacks from McCain. It's never the other way around. Does this not concern you? Did you watch the videos from Palin's rallies? Why do you think homophobes, racists, and the most fearful factions of our society are rallying around Palin? Because she's pretty?

DING, DING, DING! Okay fellas, back to your corners. First of all, since I am also always right, I would like to tell you NOBODY is wrong and NOBODY is right. Everyone has a different way of interpretting things--spoken or written. Everyone has different major life concerns.
I also know I am right, so when I would like to throw out that no matter who is elected, the senate and house should be looked at closer since it seems like they have alot more to do with the actually running this country, except when the President wants to step in and make a show at being the most important. (note to that comment: that is only when things are running a abnormal as usual, not during a major issue like world war and a depression disguised as a recession...)
Sam, just like you stated, I thought Palin didn't have enough experience and kinda felt we got a Gov elected on her looks. WRONG. This womam has a set of brass, uhh rings! I think you both know I was pulled from my chair, handcuffed behind my back and beaten senseless by three state troopers.(I was 5'8" 130lbs) Result--all my teeth broken, closed brain injury, clothing in shreds when I was taken to the hospital... I called every attorney in Alaska to take my case and they all said basically the same thing: I can't look over my shoulder the rest of my life; I have a family to raise and keep safe; and other responses just like this--kept a record of each atty called, date, time and response. Oh ya! It was cuz I was handing out information from the FEDERAL (bad word) Government on this thing called the ADA. It was writing into law in 1972 and when I was trying to get handicap parking, the right to use my service dog, curb cuts, there wasn't a single piece of information any place on the ADA to be found. I am in a major court battle over disability discrimination right now and there is not a lawyer in this state that knows anything about disability law, except for the disabled in the work place. I have been doing this case pro se for many years now against a large company (one that Senator Stevens was caught holding a major share that was not reported). IF YOU KNOW ANY LAWYERS INTERESTED IN COMING TO ALASKA FOR A WHILE... (damn serious about that!)
Palin did not take on the troopers until she took care of THE INDIVIDUAL CITIZENS, something that has not exsisted, in the years I have lived here. She had our Permanent Fund Dividend sent out a month early due to the economy. (money divided equally between every man, woman and child in AK, from the investment of the original capital the pipe line generated. Capital and interest hasn't been touched yet.) This year we each got a chech for $2,135.64 PLUS Palin gave everyone $1,200.00 added into the PFD check to help offset the increased cost of living, especially heating fuel.
As for the troopers, there is much more to the Palin/Trooper story than will ever be told, but I know first hand that they make their own rules, are very corrupt and to be feared without any question. It was to keep an 11 year old boy from having to testify and relive some real horror that no one from her family, including her, would take the stand. The result was abuse of power, because she chose to protect a kid. She has cleaned so many corrupt employees--elected, non-elected including clerical staff out, that is was amazing. She has done so many things for the PEOPLE of Alaska in such a short time, while also proving to me and the majority of Alaskans that she is a person who looks at the citizen as being who she is governing, not at mass of land.
It is not the money that is coloring the feeling of her experience (but it helps!), it is her attack at the totally corrupt people who have been running this state. So what if she spent money to have her kids travel. We do not pay state income tax, do not have sales tax and if you are disabled or 64 you do not have to pay property tax. We are a very rich state. Now, since I am always right, I say, McCain is the puppet and she would be the person actually running things and I would hope that she would not be corrupted, at least as quickly, as others who turn.
To go after the 'Good Ole Boys' as quickly and cleanly as she did once she was in office was a big shock to everyone. I realize there are so many issues about her that scare people in the lower 48, but those are things that you learn to over look when you live here. When you look at the things that are being said and written about her, they are actually minor compared to things that would really matter.
So, now that I gave you some more Palin history, I do not expect anyone to change their minds on who to vote for and who not to vote for, but I do hope I a gave a little bit of relief to anxiety or at leat a drop of peace of mind, if McCain/Palin do get elected. As for Obama, I think he is an incredible speaker. But, where is HIS experience? That is rhetorical.
Okay, have a nice holloween and you can come out of your corners and question each and maybe even me, but I dont think it will change the outcome of the elections. When we have a choice of voting for the person we dislike the least, it is time to go back and look at how this country came together and is supposed to be FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE.

I am scared to death of becoming a Socialized country, even though I lived in some Euroean countries that are run under Socialism, it is a feeling no choice that scares me. Maybe that applies to Palin as well and I just got used to things up here--NAW, that could never happen. Believe me, there new things every day! That is one of the wonderful things about living here.
Her way of life (and now mine) is so different from living in the L-48.
Alaska is almost as big as The States, but there is about the same amount of people as there are in the city I grew up in--with many different Tribes and Tribal Laws to deal with (Indian and Eskimo). Keep this in mind, since you would not survive if you were a racicst living here.

We do need more than two partys since there are more than two opinions on everything. They are some very good independants, they just have the money or fame it takes. Vote for your own beliefs, allow others to to the same, and remember the popular vote isn't always the factor, the delegates actually win/lose these things. I'm getagrip and I approved this message.
Very true.* Yet I wish for the day when those people we elect will actually represent us, as they should, and not be swayed by peer pressure, lobbyists, other countries, big business and others who have changed the manner in the way this Country is run. I also flip that to mention the Citizens seem to have forgotten they can make changes after the elections or at least that it what is written and we should still have rights to try and change the way the Country is run.
I wish I was old enough to have been involved in making changes in the 50's and 60's. All I did to make a statement was to stuff kleenex into the toes of my babysitters old Go-Go boots.

Now I am confused, again. In about 48 hours, the "analysts" et al, will still be doing what they do 3 years out of four. As for the news, that is to be seen. I don't know if you are really seriuos here or being sarcastic. What scares the hell out of me is, what about all those in our nation under-employed or unemployed. The figures supplied for the unemployment rate will never reflect the truth. It would be impossible to know, since unemployment benefits run out and those people are not counted any longer--those are the ones I worry about. I think I should stop here. Grampa told me (among a gazillion things) that I should not discuss politics and religion; they only cause hard feelings or heated debates.
So, to keep things lite hearted, I still think I'll go with Maxine, unless Nixon some how appears :)
I hope anyone reading this forum does check out the joke web sites I supplied, to much anxiety, with or without zanax, is really bad on the entire body. A good laugh about the person you are not voting for, as well as the one you are voting for, is a healthy release for the build up.
So, for me, take a deep breath and get a good laugh, I have many reasons to be terrified about my future and the way things may turn out, but if I croak tonite, it would be a waste of a day to have been to serious and not share some fun.

Some born in Prussia (now Germany) and some in Indiana. They were very strict Catholics; very conservative; very loyal to "Ma" & "Pa". Only one went past the eighth grade. His siter Cunicundus (pronounced Coony-coon-us, named after Prussian Queen, Princess?) She joined the convent at 13 yrs old and became Sister Avita. More later under "grampa".
