Dry them out..they must have a lot of moisture. Rake any dead leaf piles away from the foundation, turn over large stones (stepping stones etc)What have you already tried?
I moved to Alaska, but I am sure they will get here eventially! I used DE (spelling may be wrong: Diatamatious Earth) when living in the Mid-West. This took care of many gross things--slugs, earwigs, snails, other things that liked moiture. Beware of the extreme damage earwigs can do, even though many reports state earwigs do not do any damage. They ate a whole section of my wood fence.
Unfortunately, you may have to turn to a more potent form of control. I recently learned (behind the times!) you can no longer get Diazanon, but Miathalon is still on the market. Not a very green idea, though.
If you have them outside, I recommend that you check INSIDE as well. They will live in dark corners of closets, especially in basements and crawlspaces.
Good Luck
Alaska!? So where's my barrel of oil? Nope..you spelled DE correctly. That is great stuff for all sorts of insects. Diazinon snuck back under a different but similar name, you can find it in Home Depot or Lowe's in granular form. And believe me this site is green to start with, we can get a little burgandy and orange if nothing works.
I have tried the powders that you buy in the big box stores and I also heard that dishsoap and water works as well. I have tried the bait traps and I have them in the house as well not bad but I have probably found 20 in the last month or so.
Diatomaceous Earth is good, so long as you only use food grade DE. The stuff used for cleaning pools can cause respiratory problems. We try to keep it green here. :-)
Bag O Snakes while supplies last.
Hah!
What!?...OK so why do they call them earwigs? Come on...Now cherjohn let's get back to the original problem..earwigs. Ok no one has asked you if you have a crawl space under your house. If so and there is a leak you have a moisture problem. They love the damp. It doesn't have to be soaking wet...just a high moisture level.dry those areas out and they will fade away.
Go to Lowe's and buy a bag of any granuals that lists earwigs as one of the things it kills and follow directions. Works GREAT ! Find the granuals that are activated by rain or sprinkler. I had a heavy problem of earwigs and this worked above and beyond. My wife and I couldn't find another earwig even TRYING to find one. It worked 100%.
What are the active ingredients in those granules, may I ask, dec81964?
