   Hi, I live in a very old house in michigan. We have completely renovated it but it continues to have upkeep. We have a new roof and new siding but a stone foundation on a portion of the house.

   Okay so that leads me to what happened today. I was in the kitchen and my cat was going nuts at the window so I looked out to see what he was getting excited over. There was a cute little chipmunk outside along the edge of the house. So I opened the door and he took off behind the air conditioning unit. It dawned on me that is the corner of the house I have heard things in the walls at times throughout the years. So I decide to investigate and that little s**t zipped right into the corner of the house. Now my husband has done work on the foundation there before but it looked like he went up under the siding.

   Now the wall inside is in my family room. I haven't heard anything in months and months so I don't think this is a major problem but does anyone know about chipmunks and what to do to for one rid them and how will I know how many there are.

   Oh I am so mad! Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

   Since I have returned for the moment, the only thing I know about chipmunks from the mid-west is, they have two "doors" to thier homes in the ground. We would put a smoke bomb in the hole we found and then be able to locate the other "door" and some times the chipmunk as well. I could not take part in this, since the poor thing would usually be hit with a shovel and that would be the end.

   Now that I no longer live in the mid-west, I make a very wide path for the chipmunks. It is a strange thing, but squirrels are tiny like the old mid-west chipmunk and the chipmunks here are much bigger than the squirrels in the m-w. Mean buggers too. When I lived in my first home here, a one room log cabin, I only had only enough room to park my car in an area where it would reach the plug-in for the car. Yes, we gotta plug in our cars to keep the heating units to the radiator, oil, engine and transmission fluid so we can drive. Anyway, this chipmunk would not allow me to get out of my car!!! Had to yell for my ex to come out and have him try to chase him away.

   So, I guess it just depends on where you live and the size, before you go messing with the fellow!
