I recently moved into a house that seems to have sugar ants living in the walls! I haven't tried any of the suggested remedies, although I have been keeping the kitchen clean, not leaving food out, etc. I was wondering about the Bay Leaf suggestion. I actually have a bay leaf tree in my backyard. For the remedy, do the bay leaves need to be dried or can they be fresh? Anyone out there tried this remedy yet?

I know the pain . Now I do know also how to get rid of them. guarantee it. First off go to store and get some peanut butter and a can of Roach Proof . Yep. Roach proof not only kills roaches but ants and anything else that would eat it. It dries them out and they die. The ants carry it back into the nest and the others eat it ( that is what ants are doing , carrying food back to the nest ).
first get a spoon full of peanut butter. Now mix in a little roach proof. A LITTLE . If you put in too much you will know as the ants will not eat it. Adjust until they eat it. Place it in the area where they are coming in. you will see them swarm on it and just let them go at it , do not kill any of them.
It takes a few days or so before you see the results but rest assured if you mix it right and they are eating it they will die and take the rest of them right along with them.
I get them here all the time. every couple years I get a mass swarm of them. I use the method and do not see any for a year or so.do not worry about roach proof as it is harmless to you. ( unless of coarse you eat a bunch of it )

Good idea..seems we humans have been trying to out smart the ants and roaches for generations..I'm wondering who's actually winning. Anybody old remember a chalk with boric acid that the chinese sold and you would draw a circle around a table or chair to keep pests away? Did it work?
