Don't remove it until you're sure you have an anti virus program running. Is this a new computer? What brand is pre installed..McAfee? That's a tough one to get rid of.

I'm a fan of Avast! It's free and I think they even have an online virus scanner. If there isn't a virus detected, you may want to get your hands on Lavasoft's Ad-Aware. That's pretty good for removing malware and other "nonlethal" but intrusive softwares.
