   A whole lot of them in my house. I'm going to try, once again, to find boric acid at wal mart, and try the soap and water in a spray bottle--do I just spray the bathtub, kitchen and bathroom floors where they're most prevalent? I plan on squirting the boric acid in the nooks and crannies they crawl in. Husband is very careful about pesticides, but I read about the boric acid and it seems virtually harmless for humans. This should be enough right? I'm sick of them!

   OK I saw this early this morning and waited all day for someone to reply. So now I can't keep my typing fingers still. What you have are probably oriental roaches. Big fat black roaches. Most people call them water bugs. They are found in basements and crawl spaces and sometimes in your water meter out in the yard. Yes treat the Cracks and Crevices but then caulk them. Now..here I go..so don't get mad..Let me light a smoke and get this DDT and Clorodane off the floor ( these were all marketed as harmless in their time)..Boric Acid..Back in the 30's the Chinese sold a product called MAJIK chaulk for roaches. You draw a line around the kitchen table with it and it kept the roaches away. That was boric acid. It does kill bugs over a long period of time depending on the health of the target. If a product kills ANYTHING it will hurt you if you don't use it safely. Kids on the floor, pets are at risk. Now I've got to go to Handy Mart to get some alcohol and I won't use my safety belt ( since no one needed them until the 80's) When I get back I'll tell you how to get of them safely. Bye.

   Ok Oriental cockroach aka Blatta orientalis / black beetle or waterbug..I don't know where you are but listen to this. And I quote..Dr. Eric Smith "It has been observed to survive outdoors during 13 weeks of almost continous freezing weather." Now that is one tough little frickin bug!The areas you need to deal with are water pipes and crawl
   areas. I would use a bait and exclusion and a pair of 10 extra wides. Let us know how it works for ya.

   DEFINITELY, baits are the best ! I have used Combat® roach baits for a long time and have had great results. It will specify on the box , "For Large Roaches". Get those.
   When do I know to replace the baits ?. . . .when I start seeing bugs again.
