   Through the past week an a half my family and I have found yellow jackets in and around our house. I woke up and found at least 10 of them in my living room. After killing them we found a swarm going into our second floor window sill. We have sprayed three cans of Raid Wasp and Hornet Killer, but it did not work. We keep finding more and more bees finding their way into our house. We have no idea how long this nest has been here, and we cannot use some of the suggestions listed because it is on the second floor. PLEASE HELP.

   The nest may be in the attic or in a wall void. If you listen with a glass or with your ear against the drywall sometimes you can hear where the nest is..it's like a "clicking" sound.As for the attic..well..unless you have protective gear I would call a pro to go check it.

   If they are in your walls or attic, the best thing to do is call a professional. Since you are seeing them in your house, that means that the nest has a hole into your living space. You need a professional _now_!! I have only called professionals twice to get rid of yellow jackets and that was when they were in the walls, because I didn't have any safe way to get rid of them. The professionals wear something that looks like (and probably is) a beekeepers outfit that protects them completely. I used a more environmentally friendly company since we have parrots and did not want them exposed to any toxic chemicals in case it leaked inside the house. In both cases, I could see where the outside nest entrance was by watching for the insects coming and going. They are most active during the heat of the day. Good luck! (I know of a way to get rid of a ground nest that has never failed me, but it won't work on one in the walls/attic.)

   He uses honey..which I think is a FANTASTIC innovative idea. No pesticides no fuss no mess. I know he has some other ideas but he's just bashful right now so give him a chance..This guy is creative.

   Who uses Honey? How exactly do I use it? I'll try anything at this point and I have a whole jar of honey just waiting to be used.

    Well start trying to unscrew the top of that honey jar. GreyBird has a post in " how do I find a yellow jacket nest" where he says pour some honey down the hole. Seems that nature takes it's course and some nocturnal animal will dig it up for you..no charge!

    Well you tell the neighbors it's part of your religion and start chanting something like "Demons appear before me" or "Satan arise" and they'll close their drapes. Robe optional. Gardenlady said " I'll try anything at this point."

    Getting rid of yellowjackets inside the house should be treated by a professional exterminator. Yes, I agree, with parrots and other birds you need to take caution. However, those birds should NOT be in the same room as the yellowjackets as they can be stung just like humans. Put the parrots in another room, place a towel or blanket at the bottom of the door so any materials the exterminator would use cannot get to the birds. If the yellowjackets have eaten through the wall (yes, it can happen and does a lot of the time) you need someone there fast! There could be a small nest or a huge one in the wall. Honeybees are also known to invade walls inside homes and can create a huge mess for the homeowner.
