Am I a pervert for having so many erections?

As a man, your biological imperative is to reproduce and create offspring. Even though we are fully aware of this, there still isn't anything we can do to stop the oftentimes annoying little voice in the back of our heads telling us to get it on 24/7. And who would want to? An erection is just part of the process of sex, which goes as follows: flaccidity –> arousal – > erection –> penetration – ejaculation –> flaccidity. We all have erections. Seriously, there isn't one guy who didn't get a boner while staring at the drawings of genitalia in biology textbooks. It's totally normal.

Erections happen to all of us. Sometimes they can happen to us at very inconvenient and inappropriate times, like in class or in a meeting. My own personal nightmare was when riding the bus or in my parents' car. My god that was awful. And thank goodness for backpacks. That's about the time I started tucking it in my waistband. It worked really well.

The good news is that the older you get, at least after the age of 26, the frequency of untimely erections goes way down. So that's good. Of course one day the problem will be the reverse and you won't be able to get an erection anymore. One day when you're old and gray, you will be thinking about all those wasted erections you had when you were a kid. So enjoy them while they last.

Steps to Getting Rid of an Erection

image 1Hide your erection when in public. If persistent public erections are a problem for you, you may not want to wear jogging pants, slacks, or other thin material pants anymore. Jeans are the best at hiding erections because they are made of a thick material, especially near the fly area. Probably the best way to hide your erection is to pull it up between your pants and your waistline. Just make sure to keep your shirt covering the tip of your penis sticking out the top of your pants.
image 2Forget about your erection and stop thinking about sex. If you have an erection because you are thinking about sex, stop thinking about sex. Focus on boner killers like dead animals, your grandma, genocide—you know, depressing and gross shit. Do whatever it takes to stop thinking about sex. Try slapping your face really hard or causing some other significant but temporary pain to yourself. You will focus on the pain and the boner will go away.
image 3As a last resort, relieve your erection by masturbation. If you are unable to make your erection go away by distraction or focusing on other things, there may be only one thing you can do to get rid of it. Tuck your dick behind your belt and excuse yourself from whatever you are doing. Go into the handicapped stall in the bathroom and take care of business. I don't need to tell you how to do this, I hope. But do it quickly, as you may not have much time.

Prevent Future Embarrassing Erections

image 4Don't think about sex or play with yourself in public. As men, we are prone to think about sex at any given moment. We are easily distracted by arousing thoughts and sights. Then we start fantasizing. And if we're not careful, we will start playing with ourselves. We do this often with out even realizing it. And before we know it, we have a hard-on. Whoops. So, if you realize that your mind is beginning to wander, stop it before it's too late.
image 5Get plenty of exercise and masturbate on a regular basis. Chances are that if you are becoming sexually aroused at school or work that you are waking up with morning-wood. This is the time to be dealing with erections—when you're at home. Rub one out before you head out the door. It will clear your mind and help you focus on the day. Also getting plenty of exercise has shown to decrease the frequency of erections.

Is masturbation bad?

Masturbation is stimulating your genitals for pleasure, and it is nothing to feel guilty about. Masturbation is a perfectly healthy thing for adolescents and adults to do. It releases sexual tension, something which can cause excessive erections. Masturbation can even curb impulses to engage in inappropriate sexual activity with others. It can also keep you from engaging in appropriate sexual activity with others, which isn't always a bad thing. But masturbation is also about giving yourself pleasure and learning about sex. Just masturbate in appropriate places, like the bathroom. And if you find that you are masturbating excessively, like all day, don't worry too much. We've all had those days. If it becomes a problem, though, go see a doctor.
