Zits plague us all. They’ll show up anywhere: your face, neck, shoulders, butt, and back. Everyone gets them. And yes, we should accept our bodies as they are. We should embrace our flaws and move past them. It is a good philosophy. We should be more accepting of our natural bodies, and remember that the face that shows up on Cosmo is not actually a real person but a heavily altered veneer of one.
That said, the swollen, red, white-headed, stretched-to-the-bursting-point pores on our backs aren’t all that appealing. Nor are they really all that healthy. So, along with the following five steps, you should continue to strive toward healthiness. That includes a good diet, regular exercise, staying hydrated, being clean, and liking ourselves, even if we have giant, weeping acne spots on our backs. Even Megan Fox gets bacne, and we don’t think she’s any less beautiful because of it.
Getting rid of bacne
Wash yourself regularly to get rid of bacne. It’s not difficult. Not really, though I do have a coworker that’s 24 and hasn’t seemed to grasp the concept yet. And he has the stink and acne to prove it. So wash yourself. Do it every day. Take a shower, not a bath, to prevent oil and skin gunk from simply pooling around you, especially your back. Use soap every time. Shampoo your hair; otherwise your body oils will creep down from your hairline and run down your back, which can cause bacne. Try not to shower or wash excessively. Once a day, or twice a day if you’ve been sweating profusely, should do it. Over-washing can cause your skin to increase its oil production, undermining your washing efforts.
Wash with Cetaphil Antibacterial bar soap. As an adolescent, I visited a dermatologist to help me treat my acne. After several prescriptions failed to get the results I wanted, my doctor suggested using Cetaphil Antibacterial bar soap. It’s free of the harsh chemicals found in other soaps and contains a mild antibacterial that not only naturally deodorizes your skin, but it also helps you get rid of zits and blemishes. He suggested I shower with it once a day, soaping up the skin on my back and face, and letting it sit for one or two minutes, then rinsing off with warm water. Ten years later, I’m still using it, and am still bacne-free.
Avoid using excessive amounts of hair product. Hair products such as gels, hairsprays, waxes, pastes, glues, shine sprays, and wash-out dyes don’t do anything except run right down your back. Your head both sweats and produces natural scalp oils, and due to the laws of gravity, they don’t run up but only go down. These oils and chemicals clog up your pores, cause irritation and inflammation, and can eventually cause bacne. So, whether we’re Texas beauty queens or Midwestern scene kids, you may have to choose between super-awesome, really giant, brightly colored, highly textured hair, or getting rid of bacne. If you do use a lot of hair product, wash it out before you lay down to sleep, and wash your pillowcases frequently.
Get rid of bacne by washing your fabrics. Showering isn’t enough. If you have sweaty, gunky clothes, or sweaty, gunky sheets on your bed, it doesn’t matter if you shower or not. You end up rubbing your nice, clean skin against dirty fabric that holds in your body oils, skin flakes, bacteria, dirt, and various grunge that collects on your sheets. This can be your shirts, your bras, your pillowcases, your sheets, or even your couch covers. So wash your bras, shirts, layering tanks, sweaters, and other articles of clothing after one wear. Make sure you wash your sheets at least once a week, but even more if you allow pets on the bed or have had some recent frisky time with your significant other.
See a dermatologist to get rid of bacne. Sometimes, no matter what we do, acne, pimples, zits, blemishes, and bacne will just happen. If you wash regularly, clean your fabrics regularly, eat right, keep hydrated, and follow all of the above instructions and you still have acne? Yes, then it’s dermatologist time. Sometimes, severe acne and bacne is a sign of another medical issue. I had a uterus infection once, and my only symptoms were bacne and fatigue. Once my infection was treated, I no longer had bacne. Don’t be afraid of your dermatologist. He or she can probably help you. Just keep an eye on the nurses.Get rid of bacne naturally.
There are many reasons to want to get rid of bacne but even more reasons to get rid of bacne naturally. And yes, we all love Mother Earth, and we don’t want to kill the whales or strangle endangered animals to death. But other than being easier on the environment, natural remedies for bacne, instead of harsh chemical products, have the added benefit of being cheaper. This is especially true when dealing with as large a patch of body as your back. Sure, you can use that seventy-five-dollars-an-ounce cream on your back if you want, but be prepared to pay that seventy-five dollars every week. When you use natural remedies for bacne, such as vinegar, witch hazel, or tea tree oil, you’re spending a lot less for homemade acne treatments that can get rid of bacne just as surely as the expensive ones do.
